Home and Away is a drama soap that premiered on the Australian television on Network Seven on 1st January 1988. The daily soap has already completed twenty successful seasons and is currently running in its twenty-first season. Set in the small town of Summer Bay, near the city of Sydney, Home and Away is the most successful drama series running on the Australian Television. It reflects the problems, challenges, romances, happiness, success and failures of the people of Summer Bay. Initially the story revolved around Pipa and Tom Fletcher, who ran Caravan Park and lived along with their foster children, notable among whom were Bobby Simpson, Sophie Simpson, Carly Lucini, Steven Matheson, Shannon Reed, Justine Welles and Sally Fletcher. In addition, the Stewart family was also introduced as living on the Bay. The head of the Stewart family was Alf Stewart who lived with his two sisters Celia and Morag, and daughter, Roo Stewart. He later married Ailsa Hogan.
As the show grew, new members were introduced and new storylines developed. The introduction of the Sutherland family provided different twists to the storyline. Later a new family by the name of Hunters was introduced and Rhys Sutherland and Beth Hunter married to merge the two families. Still later, Sally Fletcher and her husband Flynn Saunders again started the fostering of children at Pipa’s house including Alf Stewart’s grandson Ric Dalby. After some time Sally was kidnapped by a psychopath Zoe, who was later on killed. After some time Flynn died due to Skin Cancer and Alf Stewart moved in to help manage things at Caravan Park. Sally soon fell in love with Brad Armstrong. However, he left for Tasmania with his sister. Soon after, Sally also left Summer Bay, with daughter Pipa. Finally Ric also left Summer Bay to go after his girlfriend, who was interested in studying in Western Australia. A total of 4768 episodes of the series have been aired as on 26th November 2008. Home and Away has also won 31 Logie Awards since 1988.
