The speed with which the Home and Away TV show stars are making an exit, it appears as if the soap opera is going to face an actor-shortage problem in coming times. Seems as if our much loved show has been inflicted by star exit infection!

Hey! We have had enough of such kind of clarifications. Firstly, the makers of the series make us fall in love with marvelously crafted characters and then suddenly strike them off. Those of you who have been watching the series regularly will remember Xavier as the guy who caused much chaos and whom Ruby fell in love with when he was in the town some years back. So it will be exciting to see if that love is revived on the return of the hunk. It is also rumored, that there will also be a third mentally disabled son named Brendan who will be introduced later in the year.

The character of Gina, who has struggled a lot to bring up her two sons single handedly, will be portrayed by Sonia Todd. Xavier, who is quite rebellious as he had to take on the family responsibilities at a very young age and resents Hugo for deserting them, yearns to live the normal life of a teenager. Hugo played by Bernard Curry is charming, independent, capable and gregarious and there is rarely a bad word spoken about him by anyone. Later Kain O’Keefe will be introduced as the mentally challenged Brendan whose disability is a cause of friction between Xavier and Hugo.

Hey friends! This weekend I got a chance to watch the critically acclaimed movie The Black Balloon, which stars Rhys Wakefield. Incidentally, he is one of my favorite actors from the television series Home and Away. Now after watching his brilliant performance in the movie, I have just one more reason to watch him perform on the show. Although The Black Balloon was released in Australia in March itself, it took nine more months to get the movie released in America. I had heard about the movie being a masterpiece, but I came to appreciate its brilliance only after seeing it.

The movie chronicles the difficulties of a fifteen year old boy Thomas played by Rhys, who is forced to take care of his autistic elder brother Charlie, when his pregnant mother is hospitalized. He is helped in his efforts by his girlfriend Jackie played by Gemma Ward. Rhys has performed wonderfully well and has been successful in bringing out the pent up frustrations as well as the brotherly love that the character of Thomas feels for his mentally ill brother. The movie has already won numerous awards and has been equally appreciated by the critics as well as the common people.

I have always found Rhys to be a wonderful actor and have loved to see him perform on the daily soap Home and Away. In the show he portrayed Lucas Holden, the youngest member of the Holden family and Tony’s second son. His character was introduced into the series in 2005 and he continued to be on the show till 2008. Although he left the show in 2008, I am eagerly waiting his return to the show sometime in 2009. He has definitely proven himself to be one of the better actors of the Australian television as well as film industry. The show which has proved to be a steping stone for many actors that have joined and left its cast has a uniqueness and freshness that it has been able to maintain despite its more than twenty year long run.
